3-Hour Time Limit

3-Hour Time Limit

The New Bedford Half Marathon has a 3-hour time limit to finish the 13.1 mile race course.

Runners are provided with a ‘closed racecourse’ free of automobile traffic, but we are required by the City of New Bedford to reopen the streets to automotive traffic no later than 2pm. This includes the start/finish line on Pleasant Street.

In order to meet this requirement, we have put in place several accommodations.

  1. Runners failing to reach mile 7 in 100 minutes will be safely diverted to Cove Rd. and County Street to re-enter the race with a shortened course.
  2. Runners failing to reach mile 10 in 145 minutes will be offered transportation back to the finish line via buses staged at the parking lot on East Rodney French Blvd. just north of Cisco Brewers Kitchen & Bar.
  3. Runners refusing transportation at this point will be required to walk/run/jog the balance of the race on the sidewalk, as race services will be closing accordingly based on a 3-hour course limit. (including aid stations)
  4. Water, oranges, finisher’s medals and a timing clock will remain at the Finish Line no more than 30 minutes following the 3-hour cutoff.
  5. A support vehicle will follow the last participants as they complete the course on the sidewalk.
