The New Bedford Half Marathon has been hosted by the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick since 2009. In 2008, the original race committee asked our organization if we would be interested in ‘shadowing’ them to see if we would be inclined to take over this Historic Running Event held every year on the 3rd Sunday in March, here in the Whaling City.

The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit, Community Service Organization here in New Bedford. We celebrate our Irish history and culture and service to the greater community. Proceeds from the New Bedford Half Marathon help fund our annual scholarship drive, as well as our year’s long outreach to the community, helping those in need.
